Spring Break 2016!

Hey Ya’ll! I apologize for my short absence, I was vacationing in Fort Lauderdale Florida for my first and last spring break trip. I have to say I had a blast! The weather was wonderful and it was very hard to come back to Va where the temperature was about 40 degrees cooler…Anyways here is a little information about my trip 🙂

We booked our trip about a month in advance trying to find the best deals on hotels and airfare. We got a pretty good deal on the hotel and plane tickets or so we thought. We purchased our plane tickets from Spirit Airlines. Off the bat the $80 round trip ticket seemed like a steal however we failed to see the fine print that everything cost extra on this airline including luggage and you don’t get a free carry on bag, which was a rude awakening to us. After all the extra luggage fees the total came out to about double the original cost.  Long story short I would highly advise not to use Spirit airlines. Thankfully we got there in one piece and our luggage was not lost.

We stayed at the Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort right on the beach it was a nice hotel with small rooms. It was a decent deal for the price and being right on the ocean was a huge plus, we enjoyed our stay here a lot.

Here are some pictures of the view from our balcony, ocean on the left and city on the right.

While on our trip we also ate at some great restaurants and bars.

Athena By The Sea a little north of our hotel on Ocean Drive had great appetizers and drinks. We got calamari, flaming cheese and large margarita fish bowls.

Here’s a picture of the girls and I enjoying fish bowl number 2!

Vinos Wine Bar in Las Olas was a really cute whole in the wall wine bar next to the restaurant we had dinner one night at called Caffe Europa which had really great Italian food. I would definitely recommend both.

Another fun spot was YOLO Restaurant and Bar located also in Las Olas in the hip downtown region. This place has awesome food, appetizers, desserts and drinks. We had gone on a Wednesday night which was ladies night. If you’re a lady a $5 donation gets you free selected drinks from 7-1opm. The atmosphere of this place was great and this place is also attached to the O Lounge a bar and lounge and Vibe a bar and club. We really enjoyed this area of Fort Lauderdale.

Two other great eateries that were just across the street from our hotel were DaVinci’s Pizzeria and Restaurant and NY Deli. Both had awesome food and were decently priced, great for a quick tasty lunch.

Here’s a pic of us at DaVinci’s our first meal in Ft. Lauderdale!

One thing  I would highly recommend while staying in Ft. Lauderdale would be traveling by water taxi on the river, it was a lot of fun and we got to see million dollar homes, boats and hear cool storied about the area. Here’s a pic of all of us waiting for the taxi at a restaurant and bar called Shooters Waterfront. This place had awesome drinks and was one of the water taxi’s many stops.

Another fun activity I would also recommend is the Ghosts Legends and Lore of Ft. Lauderdale tour. If you’re into ghosts or just up for an entertaining evening this is a great option. We all had so much fun on the tour and our guide Rev. Jeffery was awesome.  Here’s the link to the website. http://www.strangetoursftl.com

Also for traveling around the city I would suggest taking an Uber. We found this extremely useful and it was way cheaper than a taxi and more time effective.

Overall we had a great time! I would definitely travel back there if I got the opportunity.IMG_4228 copy

Hope ya’ll found this helpful! Safe travels to those still on spring break! 🙂
